FEATURED DIGITAL WOODCUTS FOR GALLERIES

ARTIST STATEMENT

I consider my work as ‘Mixed Digital Media’—blending technical approaches with the traditions of printmaking to create something uniquely my own.

Rooted in my background in both fine arts and engineering, I combine old-school aesthetics with modern compositions and tools, serving as both a method and a metaphor for the tensions I explore.

At its core, my work is about storytelling. It isn't specifically about art against tech, but rather, capturing universal dualities: individual versus group, belonging versus isolation, and the spaces where opposites converge. In an increasingly binary world, our stories exist in the in-between, richer and, ironically, more connected.

Through visual contrasts and shared human experiences, my pieces reflect the contradictions we all navigate. They invite introspection and connection, offering a space to explore the tensions, balances, and narratives that make us who we are.

Enjoy.

Your pal,
Jeff

ON MY STYLE AND OBJECTIVES

My style draws from the timeless techniques of woodcut printmaking, characterized by bold contrasts, raw textures, and a literal black and white manifestation. Each piece captures a tension between something and something else, emphasizing recurring themes of solitude, connection, and introspection. The use of stark subject matter and an opposing space creates a raw, tactile aesthetic, allowing each composition to tell a story of universal emotions through a distinctly modern lens. These works reflect my commitment to exploring dualities and crafting a cohesive visual language.

ON DIGITAL PRINTMAKING

Printmaking is a consistent backdrop in my work. It's the perfect metaphor for my approach—both technical and creative, manual and automated, woven with the arts since the earliest days of handprints on the cave walls of Lascaux evolving through the centuries offering artists new approaches, qualities, and opportunities with every technical innovation.

ON STORYTELLING AND CONNECTIONS

My work captures moments that feel immediate and relatable while hinting at the stories surrounding them. Each piece is a sliver of time, suggesting a past that shaped it and a future it leads to. Accompanying these scenes is a layered narrative—viewers are not just observing art but stepping into a world where they might inhabit the perspective of an unseen storyteller. This interplay creates connection, inviting the audience to reflect on the desires, conflicts, and aspirations that exist both within the work and in their own lives beyond the frame.

WORK SPECIFICS

My work balances digital innovation with a deeply human, manual approach, demonstrating that fine art can embrace technology while preserving the emotional resonance of the human experience. Tools like AI, generative code, and custom filters are integral to my process but serve as collaborators rather than replacements. Each piece is shaped by a hand-driven attention to detail, emphasizing the narrative and personal connection central to fine art. Exclusively digital-native since 2008, my work invites viewers to explore this harmony, blending tradition and technology into something uniquely meaningful.

ON INNOVATION AND RESONANCE

Throughout my career, both professionally and personally, I have focused on innovation and the interplay between technology, social expectations, and evolution. Whether in my day job or in my art, my work tests boundaries—exploring how new ideas can resonate with people, meet their desires, and uncover fresh experiences.

I aim to challenge expectations, blending emerging technologies with timeless human stories. My art reflects this ethos, pushing the limits of creativity and curiosity. Each piece is a step in understanding not only what captivates audiences today but also what shapes the narratives of tomorrow.
